Watermelon for a Cause

Earlier this month, we attended the Charity Bingo Night at the Yellow Cab Tavern, not because Waste-Free Dayton was the charity beneficiary, but because our friends at Access to Excess were there to benefit from the generosity and community mindedness of Yellow Cab and The Pizza Bandit. We had a great time playing bingo, and Natalie and I each won a watermelon as a prize for winning one of the rounds of bingo. After bingo, we were going outside to watch the watermelon eating contest, when Tej Joshi, host of Good Day Dayton, approached us, and asked if we were going to do the contest along with him. It didn’t take much convincing, and suddenly we found ourselves in front of a big slice of watermelon. The clock was set at 3 minutes, but it didn’t take that long for the winner to finish his slice. We weren’t really close to winning that contest, but we did respectable. Most important, we had a great time, and we were just happy to be there to support Access to Excess.

Be sure to mark you calendars for our next Charity Bingo Night at the Yellow Cab. It’s on Tuesday, October 18, with bingo starting at 6:30. You can join and share the Facebook event here.
